It has now been nearly four years since the FDA approval of silicone breast implants for cosmetic breast augmentation. Some women might simply prefer not to have silicone implants for personal reasons as well as the cost for silicone is more expensive. Silicone implants have not been shown to cause autoimmune diseases such as arthritis and lupus as had been feared.
